England and its signs

I think it's still hilarious what kind of sign you can find here in England XD
Some I found and remembered to take a picture of:
this was right next to the traffic light! XD

the small print! If doors are closed please do not try to get in XD
thanks for warning me of the delays XD Because I wouldn't have noticed them otherwise XD

Why by 200 g of chocolate for 60 pence when you can by it in one bar for 89 pence! XD

Trust

Sometimes it's not easy to trust others but this here in Preston gave me a boost to trust people more =D

These are books the shop that is inseide that building is selling. There is a little sign next to the books that asks customers to pay for the books inside =) Apparently the system works =D

Funny German

Okay this entry is mostly for the germans that read this blog. I found this nice sign in the library:
It's supposed to say: "Do you have children's books?" in German but instead it says "Do you have children beech?" XD
You get the gist but it's still funny XD

Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs

As most people know I am a huge Harry Potter addict so this weekend I went and made some chocolate frogs =D Sadly they cannot jump but at least they taste nice =D

Ingredients:

- 2 hands full of jelly frogs
- 120 gramm chocolate (milk chocolate, around 40 % cocoa)
- 1 teaspoon sunflower oil

Total time: 2 hours (but I had a lot of frogs XD)

Instructions:

1. Melt the chocolate in a hot water bath and add the sunflower oil.
Be careful that the chocolate doesn't get too hot as it will cool down with a white film otherwise. It won't be bad or anything, it just won't look nice.
The sunflower oil lets the chocolate shine when it's cooled down but don't add too much as nobody wants their chocolate to taste like sunflower oil ;-D

2. Dip in each frog and put it on a rack to cool down.

my army of frogs XD
In this step you'll have to be careful to not let the frogs stay in teh chocolate for too long. This is important as they are made out of jelly and if they stay in the hot chocolate for too long they might look like this:
yes, I mean the mess in the middle of the picture!
3. Put the rack in the fridge for about an hour.
During that time you can print out the boxes and start folding and glueing =D
I used the box design from Gaddia and just changed it around on some boxes to get more variety =) If you're interested in the other boxes designs just leave a comment and I'll upload them too =)

After and hour you can take the frogs from the rack and put them into the boxes =D
The normal box design is a little too big for just one frog so I made smaller ones too that are perfect for just one frog ;-D
all different box designs, gaddia's on the left

I gave the frogs to some friends and my room mate to try and everyone liked them =D
I think it's a great thing if you just want to have something small to give to someone, especially the smaller boxes =D
Hope you'll enjoy chocolate frogs too! =D

Manchester Trip

Manchesteeeeeeeeeeeer =D
My trip to Manchester was some time ago when Salle's friend had to go back to Germany and we decided to accompany him to Manchester.
We met on friday morning and and went to a hostel Salle had stayed in before called Ashton House.. The hostel is great =) It's pretty cheap, close to Victoria Station and with the most amazing showers *__* (more about them later.)
After putting all our stuff into our room (we got a 6 bed room for us 3 alone =D ) we went to get the whole tourist program done XD
But first we stopped by a pub called The Shakespeare. We all had some fish n' chips and I have to say it tasted   really nice. Sadly the waitress wasn't nice so we left as soon as we could.
Over time we saw the town hall (with statues of Joule and Dalton!), Cathedral of Manchester, China Town and Arndale Centre.
the town hall front

Cathedral

The town hall was really nice and has a very interesting interior architecture! It looks really mysterious :3
Oh and they have the triforce on their windows! XD

We couldn't get into the Cathedral as we got there too late and we didn't stick around for long as it started raining just as we arrived there =(
But it is really beautiful =D
China town was really nice and disappointing at the same time. The big entrance sign to it is huge and interesting but behind that it looks just like any other street in Manchester =( The very best thing there was the chinese bakery we found. Everything from there tastes great *__* I don't even want to no how many artificial flavours they used in their products but everything tastes amazing so I won't ask XD
Their products include:
different cheese cakes and cakes with whipped cream *__*

super cute chestnut bun!

I think this was chicken and mushroom pie, anyway Salle's friend sayed it tastes good XD

Black Forest Gateu XD Still not as good as in Germany XD

some kind of weird sweet bun with sweet and spicy filling. I was really confused by that  one as Salle described the taste  and I didn't try it XD But it's supposed to taste good =)

I think this one was a red bean bun, but I'm not quite sure...

chocolate roll with whipped cream and jelly in it =D It was fantastic! I had a huge sugar shock afterwards but it was worth it!

Custard bun! So delicious :3

My personal favourite! Banana and read bean roll. It's basically pure sugar and perfect =D

When we arrived at Arndale Centre it just started raining again so we stayed in there for quite some time and just went through nearly every shop we could find XD
inside poundland: because fearing you're pregnant just once is boring? Ô.o

That inlcluded a bubble tea stand =D The tea was fantastic and in the Apple store we were in later on (nobody of us had ever been in one before that) I told people to try some bubble tea as I just tasted great XD
peach bubble tea with tapioca bubbles =D

After running around for some time we went back to our hostel to rest before going out to a pub.
Now about the hostel =D
The entrance looks really fancy and a lot like a hotel instead of a hostel. The rooms are your standard hostel room but we found some loose screws in the bed O.o Salle's friend who is an engineer wouldn't sleep in the top  bunk of the beds after that. XD

The breakfast is standard too. Nothing fancy but still enough. (toast, pancakes, english muffins and cereals).
The common room has a big sofa and a flat screen TV and some tables to sit at. The kitchen is an open kitchen in the common room. But if you need cuttlery you best bring your own as there isn't always some there.
Just one thing scared me in the common room:
this should've been romved when the risks were cleared O.o

The really amazing thing are the showers *_* They are high-tech showers! With LED lights, radio music, and 3 different ways to shower. You have your normal shower head, a "rain shower" and a seat with a back shower! Oh and an exrta little shower head for your feet XD This is one of my dream showers *__*

After spending some time in a pub talking and having fun  we came back to the hostel to get at least some sleep.
Next morning we brought Salle's friend to the train station so he could get his train back home. Afterwards we just got some chinese brushes for Salle and went back home too.
Manchester was interesting as always and I found out that everything is really close by XD

Need some blood?

Yesterday I went to the nearest sweets shop to get some licorice and other things for some baking projects I have planned for the future ;-D
As I walked through the shop and had a nice chat with the employee I found this

Yep. It's an energy drink that looks like blood in a bag. It came about because of all the vampire fans and I couldn't resist to get some and put it in the fridge to scare my flat mates 8D

I kinda want to taste it but the 80 mg of pure caffeine in 100 ml scare me O.o If I drink it I'll probably be unable to sit still for 3 days or so. The whole thing is made to look like real blood and even has some heating instructions on the back.

So dig in and enjoy XD (It's actually supposed to taste like fruit punch XD)

Scotland with family - Day 8

This was our last day in Scotland.
We woke up really early to clean the house and be in Preston before night time.
But our way home was hindered by the wall of fog that had just appeared over night. Not a little bit of fog but literally a wall of fog all around us. We had at best around 50 metres sight and that together with small streets and sheep everywhere was an interesting experience XD

But we pulled through and prevailed XD
In the afternoon we arrived in Preston and relaxed until we met Salle and a friend of hers at the pub to get something to eat =D
The evening then went on in the Roper Hall and I got scarred for live.
It all started with screams and yells from the boys from the neighbour table. Following that I just heard that the yells got louder and that Salle's friend gasped. I looked over to the other table again and one of the boys had his genitals exposed O.o I thought he showed his thumb but he's just that small XD I think he wanted to scare us but it backfired on him as we only called him "mini wienie " after that XD The group left soon after and we all were glad for that.
After some time at the pool table we went back home and watched TV together for the last time before my family left.
Next morning was pretty stressed as my family had to get away on time so we packed everything really fast and after they dropped me off at my flat they went back home. (For anyone curious it takes about 14/15 hours from northern Germany to Preston =D)
Now I'm back in Preston and the adventures will continue (though the exams are coming too x.x)

Scotland with family - Day 6 and 7

Why two days in one post? Because on the sixth day of our family holiday nothing happened XD Absolutly nothing XD We stayed at home and just enjoyed some quiet time =D

On the seventh day though we explored the Scotland's countryside again =)
We got up early in the morning to drive to Glasgow and find a car boot sale there. Car boot sales in Scotland are the same as flea markets in England =D So lots of old, antique and interesting stuff for less money than normally =D My mom went crazy on the shopping but I can totally understand her XD The things were really nice and I enjoyed talking to the people about the history of some of the articles they sold. =)
After an hour or two on  the market we stuffed everything into our car and took off to Alexandria. Yes, the city is really called Alexandria XD
After a short stop at McDonalds we drove further into nowhere to Balmaha (our "Bahamas" XD).
Balmaha is a super small village at Loch Lomond but it's THE place to go if you want to get on the island Inchcailloch. You can get a ferry ride from Balmaha boat yard to Inchcailloch for around 5 pounds per person, return inclusive. We got on the island with the nice Lady Jean =D
There is also the chance to rent a rowing boat but the current seems quite strong when there's wind (which is nearly always XD) so the ferry is nicer =D
Inchcailloch is a really interesting island as nobody lives on it and it has quite a lot of history for such a small island =)
We used 2 of the 3 possible tracking routes on the island and it's just perfect =D The trails are done well enough that you can hike comfortably but not so obvious as that they would destroy the view. Oh and there are animals everywhere =D

the boat yard you get dropped off at =D
find the trail =D
Walking around is really nice and everything is so quiet! There were relativly few tourist so you could really feel like an explorer find new things everywhere =D
I would absolutly recommend to take the hiking trail that gets you on top of the mountains. The few is just fantastic! (and there are benches there in case someone need a pause XD)

On the island everything is green =D Everywhere you look seems as if it could hide some magical secret or be an entrance to a magical new world =) Places like this are where fantasy stories are born =D
love the "wood monster" XD
If you choose to go around the whole island halfway point is of course the other jetty of the island. There is a nice sandy beach, some toilets and an area for grilling =D
the beach

And, as it's still Scotland with way to many golf courses, my mum found this at the beach:

On the way back to "our" jetty we came by the Inchcailloch burial ground. This place has a sign with lots of very interesting information about the island, its former inhabitants and the graves on the burial ground. Though it is quite creepy with the remains of the old church and some graves that nobody knows who's in them.
the burial ground is actually bigger than this but I didn't want to photograph random people
From the burial ground it's only a short walk back to the starting point =D Another thing I liked about the island was that every sign is in English and in Gaelic ! Makes it all seem more magical =D

While waiting for our ferry back we meet Daisy Duck.
This lovely lady was dancing around and in front of us and kept expecting us to feed her. Sadly we didn'T have anything with us =( And I wouldn't let my dad feed her cigaretts!
But she kept us entertained during the whole time we were waiting for the ferry XD Everytime we thought she was finished she showed a new trick XD
In the end we were back in Balmaha and from there to our cottage.
I will never forget Inchcailloch and swore to come back there again. If only to have some place to really relax!
